A wider band sits closer on the finger than a thin one, so some people prefer to go up a quarter or half size. How does a 3mm band compare with a standard engagement ring band

Most solitaire shanks are between 1.5mm and 2mm wide. At 3mm this band is noticeably broader, closer to what many people would choose for a wedding band, so the ring reads as one substantial piece rather than a delicate one. It also distributes weight better under a large centre stone.

Is a wide band comfortable to wear every day

What is a radiant cut diamond

A radiant is a rectangular or square stone with cropped corners and brilliant style faceting. It combines the elegant outline of an emerald cut with the fire of a round brilliant, scattering light in many small bursts rather than the broad flashes of a step cut. The trimmed corners also make it more robust than a sharp cornered shape.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

Can a wide plain band be resized

Yes. With no stones set into the shank there is nothing to work around, so a plain 3mm band is one of the easiest designs to resize, up or down, by a competent jeweller.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, which is what makes a 4 carat or 5 carat radiant centre realistic on a normal budget.
