A radiant cut lab grown diamond in four claws, sitting on a hidden halo that runs the whole way round the basket, above a shank pave set on its top face and down both side walls. From the front it reads as a wide bright rectangle on a line of diamonds. From the side almost no plain metal is visible at all.

The radiant cut is the one shape that refuses to choose. Its outline is borrowed from the emerald cut, a rectangle with the four corners cut off, but its interior is faceted like a brilliant, with dozens of small facets arranged to scatter light rather than the long parallel terraces of a step cut. The result is a stone that has the architecture of an emerald cut and the fire of a round, and it is the reason a radiant hides inclusions far better than an emerald cut of the same clarity: there is no open table to look through. The three sided pave then does for the metal what the faceting does for the stone. Setting the top face alone leaves two blank walls that go dark the moment the hand turns, so carrying the pave over the edges and down both sides means the band keeps returning light through the whole rotation of the hand rather than only when viewed square on.

Band details

The shank is narrow and squared in section so that it presents three flat surfaces to set rather than one curve. Squaring the band is what makes three sided pave possible; on a round wire the side stones would sit at an angle and catch on fabric.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs and is rhodium finished, which is the usual choice here because a neutral metal between densely set stones disappears and the pave reads as continuous.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a radiant cut
A cut cornered rectangle faceted like a brilliant rather than a step cut. It gives the outline of an emerald cut with the fire of a round.

Does a radiant hide inclusions
Better than an emerald cut, because its many small facets break up the view into the stone. We still use VVS2 clarity so the point is academic.

Is three sided pave durable
Yes, when the band is squared and the stones are set below the surface of the metal as they are here. The side stones sit in beads that stand slightly proud and take any contact first.

Can this ring be resized
Within a modest range. The pave runs most of the way round, so resizing means resetting a short section, which we do at cost after the first year.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Three sided pave is slow work, so production usually takes twelve to sixteen working days before dispatch.
