A radiant cut lab grown diamond held at its cropped corners by four claws, above a hidden halo, on a band cut with hand engraved scrollwork and edged in milgrain. A radiant is the hybrid of the rectangular family. It takes the outline and cropped corners of an emerald cut but is faceted like a brilliant underneath, so it holds a clean architectural shape while throwing the scattered fire of a round. Setting it on an engraved shank rather than a plain or pave one pulls the design toward the antique. The scroll pattern is cut into the metal by hand, not cast, and the milgrain along both edges is a row of tiny beads run with a knurling wheel, which is what gives an old ring its soft outline instead of a hard machined edge. Band details

The shank carries hand engraved scrollwork along its face with milgrain beading worked along both edges. No pave is set into the band itself. The accent stones on this ring are all in the hidden halo beneath the centre stone.

White gold and sterling silver, as photographed, give the crisp platinum look of original Art Deco pieces and keep the engraving cool and shadowed. Yellow and rose gold warm the cut lines and make the scrollwork stand out more strongly against the metal.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. Because the engraving and milgrain run around the shank, please order your correct size where possible. Resizing is still possible but the pattern has to be recut across the join. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.

What is a radiant cut?
A rectangular stone with cropped corners like an emerald cut, but faceted as a brilliant underneath. It gives you the clean geometric outline of a step cut with the sparkle of a round, which is why it suits people who like both.

How does a radiant differ from an emerald cut?
The outline is similar, but the faceting is completely different. An emerald cut is a step cut with long parallel facets and broad flashes. A radiant has many small triangular facets that scatter light, so it sparkles far more and hides inclusions better.

What is milgrain?
A row of very small metal beads worked along the edge of a band with a knurling tool. It is a hallmark of Edwardian and Art Deco jewellery and it softens the outline of a ring, catching light along the rim in a way a plain polished edge does not.

Is hand engraving durable?
Yes. The pattern is cut into the metal itself rather than applied to the surface, so it does not wear off. Over many years the high points soften slightly, which is generally considered part of the appeal.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small pave set diamonds around the collar beneath the centre stone, facing outward. It is invisible from the front and appears only in profile or as the hand moves.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.
