A radiant cut lab grown diamond in four claws, with marquise accents running lengthwise down each side of the band and reducing in size as they travel away from the centre. The metal between them is minimal, so the shank reads as a tapering ribbon of diamond rather than a band with stones on it.

Laying marquises lengthwise along a shank creates a problem that is invisible in a photograph and obvious on a hand. A band curves, so a stone set flat into it at the shoulder faces upward while a stone set flat further along faces sideways, away from anyone looking at the ring. Set naively, the outer accents go dark exactly when the wearer holds their hand out. The fix is to tilt each accent slightly against the curve, so that every table stays roughly perpendicular to the viewer instead of perpendicular to the band it sits in. The angle changes stone by stone, increasing as the row descends, and it is worked out for each ring size because the curvature of the shank changes with circumference. Done properly the whole row lights at once. Done as a straight repeat, half of it is dark at any given moment.

Band details

The shank is fine, with only a bead of metal between one accent and the next through the upper half, and left plain below. Because the marquises are graduated, the band appears to taper away from the centre stone even though the metal itself stays a constant width.
