A radiant cut lab grown diamond in four slim claws on a very fine band, with single accent diamonds bead set at intervals along the shank. There is no halo, no gallery decoration and no pave. The ring is close to the minimum amount of metal that can carry a stone of this size.

Building a band this fine is a question of where the metal is, not how much of it there is. A thin shank fails at the shoulders, where the load of the head is transferred into the band, and never in the middle where it looks most fragile. So the shank is drawn slightly heavier through the top third and tapers as it descends, a difference small enough that the eye never registers it but large enough to keep the join sound. The accents are then bead set rather than claw set, which matters at this scale: a claw setting needs a seat cut into the band plus four prongs standing proud of it, and on a wire this narrow there is not enough metal for both. A bead setting raises tiny beads of the shank's own material over the edge of the stone, taking nothing away and adding nothing on. It is the only way to put a diamond into a band this thin without weakening it.

Band details

The shank is a fine round wire, drawn slightly heavier through the upper third where the load is carried and tapering below. Its outer surface is left polished between the accents, so the metal itself supplies the light in the gaps.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs. For four and five carat centre stones we recommend 14K or 18K gold rather than sterling silver, since a fine band in a softer metal will bend before it breaks.

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Is a very fine band strong enough
Yes, when the metal is placed correctly. We thicken the upper third where the head joins the band, which is where a thin shank actually fails. For the largest carat weights we recommend gold rather than silver.

What is bead setting
Tiny beads of the band's own metal are raised with a graver and pushed over the edge of the stone. Nothing is added to the shank, which is why it works on a band too narrow for claws.

What is a radiant cut
A cut cornered rectangle faceted like a brilliant rather than a step cut, giving the outline of an emerald cut with the fire of a round.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, within a moderate range, working in the plain metal of the lower shank.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days before dispatch.
