A radiant cut lab grown diamond in corner claws above a concealed halo, on a band whose top surface is domed rather than flat, pave set across the curve with milgrain worked along both edges. The stones follow the dome, so the row is convex rather than level.

Setting pave on a domed band is a different job from setting it on a flat one, and the difference is angular. On a flat surface every seat is drilled straight down and every stone faces the same way, which is why flat pave can be laid out mechanically. On a dome, the surface tilts away from the centreline as it curves, so a seat drilled straight down at the edge would leave its stone tipped sideways with half its table facing the finger. Each seat has to be drilled on the normal to the curve at that point, which means the drill angle changes continuously from the middle of the band outward. The reward is that the finished row throws light in a fan rather than in a single plane: the stones near the centre return light upward, the ones near the edges return it sideways, and the band stays bright across a much wider range of viewing angles than a flat row can manage.

Band details

The shank is domed across its width and pave set over the curve, with milgrain running along both outer edges. The milgrain sits at the lowest point of the curve where the band meets the finger, so it protects the outermost stones without adding height.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, where the two milgrain edges frame the curve and make the dome legible from directly above.

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Within a modest range. The pave runs most of the way round, so resizing means resetting a short section, which we do at cost after the first year.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Domed pave with hand applied milgrain is slow work, so production usually takes fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
