A radiant cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a slim band whose accents alternate between round brilliants and marquise cuts laid across the shank rather than along it. Because each marquise runs from edge to edge instead of front to back, the outline of the band rises and falls, giving it a scalloped silhouette from above.

Turning the marquise crosswise is the whole decision, and the reason is geometric. A marquise laid lengthwise along a shank sits within the width of the band and adds nothing to it: the ring still reads as narrow as the metal is. Rotate the same stone ninety degrees and its long axis now spans the width, so at every marquise the band appears twice as wide as it does between them. The eye averages those alternating widths into something broader than the true measurement, which means a very slim shank can be made to look substantial without adding metal or weight. It also produces the scalloped edge, since the outline of the band has to follow the stones. The cost of the trick is that the tips of each marquise sit at the outer edge of the shank where knocks land, so both points are covered by claws rather than left proud, and the outer profile is rounded so nothing catches.

Band details

The shank is slim and its outline scallops in and out as it follows the crosswise accents. The lower half is left plain and rounded, so despite the raised outer edge above, the part of the ring that touches the neighbouring fingers stays smooth.
