A pear shape lab grown diamond gripped by five tapered claws on a fine band. The claws are the design. The shank is a fine rounded band left completely plain. No stones, no shaping, no split. Against a band this narrow the pear looks broader across the belly, and the plain metal keeps the eye on the outline of the stone rather than on the ring around it.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold makes the claw crown visible as a warm outline around the stone. Rose gold softens it. White gold and sterling silver make the claws almost disappear so the pear reads as a floating shape. Every metal is finished by hand in our workshop.

Why five claws on a pear?
A pear is asymmetric, so it needs support at three distinct zones, the belly, the shoulders and the point. Five claws cover all three without crowding the stone. Fewer claws leave the belly under supported and more begin to hide the outline.

Is the point of a pear fragile?
The point is the most vulnerable part of the stone, which is why the fifth claw is folded into a V that wraps over and shields it. With that protection a pear wears as reliably as a round.

Which way should a pear point?
Most people wear the point toward the fingertip because it lengthens the look of the finger. We set it point up as standard and can reverse it on request.

Does a pear look bigger than a round?
Yes. The elongated outline spreads the weight over a larger face up area, so a pear reads noticeably larger on the hand than a round brilliant of equal carat.
