The shank is a slim rounded band with a smooth polished surface running unbroken all the way around. Because there is nothing set into it, the ring is simple to resize, easy to engrave inside and will pair with any wedding band chosen later, including a fitted V band that nests under the point.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold is the classic pairing and throws warm light into the broad end of the pear. Rose gold reads softer. White gold and sterling silver make the claws recede so the outline of the stone is all you see. Every metal is finished by hand in our workshop.

Which way should a pear cut point?
Most people wear the point toward the fingertip because it lengthens the look of the finger. There is no rule and some prefer it pointing toward the wrist. We set it point up as standard and can reverse it on request.

Is the point of a pear fragile?
The point is the most vulnerable part of the stone, which is why this setting uses a V shaped claw that wraps over and shields it. With that protection a pear wears as reliably as a round.

Does a pear look bigger than a round?
Yes. The elongated outline spreads the weight over a larger face up area, so a pear reads noticeably larger on the hand than a round brilliant of the same carat.

What is the bow tie effect?
Some pears show a dark band across the widest part where light is blocked. It comes from poor proportions. We select only well cut stones with excellent make, so the pears we set do not show a visible bow tie.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Which metal is best for daily wear?
14K and 18K gold are the most durable choices for a ring worn every day. 10K is harder still. Sterling silver is softer and suits gentler wear or a first ring.
