Two lab grown diamonds set side by side on a single plain band, a pear and an emerald cut, each held in its own bezel rather than by claws. This is a toi et moi, French for you and me, and it is one ring rather than two. Pairing these particular shapes is the interesting decision. A pear is a brilliant cut, all curve and sparkle, and an emerald cut is a step cut, all straight lines and slow broad flashes, so the two stones behave completely differently in light while sitting against each other. The bezels reinforce that contrast, one following a long tapering curve to a point and the other tracing a hard rectangle with cropped corners. Nothing else is added. Two bezels show a great deal of metal, so the colour draws both outlines. Yellow and rose gold turn the pair into two bold gold shapes side by side, white gold reduces the rims to bright edges and lets the stones dominate. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and resists denting on bezel walls.

Frequently asked questions

What does toi et moi mean?
It is French for you and me. The design places two stones side by side on one ring to represent two people, and dates back to the eighteenth century. Napoleon gave Josephine a toi et moi in 1796, which is why the style is so closely associated with engagement.

Is this one ring or two?
One ring. Both diamonds are set on a single shank. It is not a bridal set and does not separate.

Why pair a pear with an emerald cut?
Because they are opposites. A pear is brilliant faceted and curved, an emerald cut is step faceted and rectangular, so one sparkles while the other returns broad calm flashes. Setting two identical stones would make a symmetrical ring, and that is not what a toi et moi is for.

Why bezel set rather than claws?
Bezels protect the vulnerable parts of both shapes completely, the point of the pear and the cropped corners of the emerald cut, and give each stone a clean outline that reads clearly against the other.

How is the carat weight divided?
The carat option you choose is the combined weight of both stones, split between the pear and the emerald cut so the pair looks balanced. Tell us at checkout if you would prefer one stone noticeably larger.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
