Pear Cut Moissanite Six Claw Wide Flat Band Engagement Ring

A pear cut moissanite in six slim claws sitting directly on a wide flat band of roughly 4 mm. The band has square edges and runs at a constant width the whole way round, with no taper and no rise into the shoulders. The setting is a plain open basket, so the stone is visible from the side as well as from above.

There are no accent stones and no texture. It is the most straightforward ring in our pear range: one large stone and a great deal of clean metal, with nothing else competing for attention.

Pricing note

Our prices are based on a band up to 2 mm wide. This band measures about 4 mm, so it carries a width supplement of 100 US dollars in sterling silver and 400 US dollars in gold. That supplement is already included in the prices shown and is not added at checkout.

Why the point is protected

The tip of a pear is the most vulnerable part of the shape. Ours sits under a claw that wraps around it rather than a plain prong resting on top. It is the difference between a point that survives a decade of daily wear and one that chips on a door frame in the first year, and it is not something we treat as optional.

How it compares to our other wide band pear rings

Every design is listed separately. Our bezel set wide flat band ring uses this same 4 mm square edged shank but wraps the stone in a continuous rim and lifts it on a gallery, which protects it more and shows a little less of it. This one uses claws instead, sits lower, and lets more light into the stone from the side. Our wide mosaic band fills the same width with accent stones instead of leaving it plain.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. There is a lot of visible metal on this design, so the colour is the main decision after the stone. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The difficulty in a plain wide band is entirely in the finishing: the two square edges have to stay exactly parallel all the way round, and the flat face has to be filed dead level before polishing, because any waviness shows instantly in the reflection.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working underneath the open basket. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. A broad polished surface picks up fine hairline scratches over the years, which is normal; we can repolish it any time. Have the six claws checked once a year.

Fit

A 4 mm flat band with square edges feels firmer on the finger than a narrow rounded one at the same nominal size. If you measured with a thin ring, consider going up a quarter to a half size, and tell us what you measured with so we can advise.

Resizing

The band is plain the whole way round and resizes cleanly, though a wide flat shank takes more work than a narrow one and the join needs careful finishing to keep the edges straight. We can move it by about two sizes.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Claws or bezel? Claws show more of the stone and let more light in from the sides, which makes a moissanite look livelier. A bezel protects the stone better and never needs tightening. Both versions of this ring are listed separately so you can choose.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Most people wear this one alone. At 4 mm it already fills the space, and a second band beside a square edged shank tends to look crowded.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
