Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A pear cut moissanite in six claws on a band made of two slender polished strands that separate at the shoulders, cross over one another and knot together before rejoining. There are no accent stones anywhere on this ring. The whole design is done in metal.
We make it to order in our workshop in Surat, India. Family run, every ring finished and checked by hand.
The two strands genuinely part company. Where they cross you can see daylight through the gap between them, and where they knot the metal loops over itself the way a young vine does around a stem. That openness is the whole point of the design and it is what makes the band look grown rather than cast.
It is also what separates this from our Rope Twist ring, where the band is one solid piece with a twist worked into its surface and no openings at all. Held side by side they are not similar. This one is airy and botanical, that one is a heavy carved cord.
Most of our vine and twist designs carry pave along the strands. This one does not, and the reason is that pave would fill the openings and cancel the effect. What you get instead is a ring whose interest is entirely in shape and in the way polished metal catches light along a curve, with one large pear cut moissanite sitting above it.
Practically, this is also the easiest of our nature designs to live with. Nothing on the band can loosen or fall out, and there is no pave to clean.
Our Petite Twisted Vine ring has one pave strand and one plain, so it sparkles along the band but the twist is tighter and closed.
Our Split Shank Vine ring divides much further down the finger and has a marquise stone at each junction.
Our Twisted Pave ring sets both ribbons with stones, which is the brightest of the group and the least botanical.
This one is the only one with no stones on the band at all, and the only one where the crossing is fully open. If you want the nature inspired shape without any accent stones, this is the ring.
The centre is a pear cut moissanite, sometimes called a teardrop. It is a brilliant cut, so it returns light as sharp flashes of white and coloured fire, and its point elongates the finger. With nothing else on the ring competing, the pear carries the whole design, which is why we recommend going up in size here if you are undecided.
Every centre stone is Colorless in body colour and VVS in clarity.
Moissanite has a higher refractive index than diamond, which is why it fires so hard, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it holds up to daily wear.
Choose the centre from 2 carat up to 5 carat.
Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Shown in yellow gold, which suits this design best because a plain metal band relies entirely on colour and warmth for its character, and yellow gold has the most of both. Rose gold reads as the most romantic and the most vine like. White gold and silver make a cooler, more architectural version of the same shape. 10K is the hardest and keeps the knot crisp, 14K is the everyday balance, 18K is the richest but softest and on slender open strands we would steer you towards 14K. White gold is rhodium plated and needs replating every one to two years.
Nothing is taken off a shelf. We cast, shape the strands, set the stone, file and polish each ring for your chosen metal, centre size and finger size after your order arrives, which is how we can offer twenty one ring sizes and forty combinations.
The simplest care of any ring we make. Warm water, a drop of mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush, working the brush through the openings where the strands cross so nothing sits in the gaps. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming pools, and keep it away from bleach.
Will a wedding band sit flush? Not against the crossing, because the band is not a straight line there. Many people wear this one alone, or with a plain band worn on the other hand. If you want a stacking pair, tell us and we will shape a companion band to follow the curve.
Can it be resized? Yes, within a moderate range. There are no stones in the shank, which helps, but the pattern has to stay balanced so we would rather get the size right first time.
Are the open strands strong? Yes. Each strand is thinner than a normal shank but there are two of them and they rejoin at the top and bottom, so the total metal is comparable to a solid band.
Is the point of the pear protected? Yes, it has its own claw.
