Pear Cut Moissanite Bezel Set Wide Flat Band Engagement Ring

A pear cut moissanite in a smooth continuous bezel, lifted on an open gallery above a wide flat band of roughly 4 mm. The band has square edges rather than rounded ones, which gives it a deliberate, architectural look, and it runs at a constant width the whole way round with no taper at all.

There are no accent stones and no texture anywhere. The bezel rim, the flat face of the band and the two crisp edges are the entire design. Seen from the side, the setting floats clear of the band on its gallery, which stops a wide ring from looking heavy.

Why a bezel suits a pear

The tip of a pear is the part most likely to chip, and a bezel encloses it completely instead of leaving it exposed under a single claw. There is nothing to snag on knitwear, nothing to catch on a bag strap, and nothing to work loose. If you are hard on your hands, this is among the safest settings we make.

How it compares to our other wide band pear rings

Every design is listed separately. Our claw set wide flat band ring uses exactly the same 4 mm square edged shank but holds the stone in six claws and sits the setting directly on the band, which shows more of the stone and reads a little more traditional. Our wide mosaic band packs the same width with accent stones. This is the plainest and most graphic of the three, and the only wide band we make with a bezel.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. On a design with this much bare metal, the colour choice does more work than on any stone set ring. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. Two things are difficult here and both are invisible when done right: keeping the two square edges of the band perfectly parallel around the whole circumference, and closing a bezel evenly around a pointed stone. Our setters do the bezel by hand with a punch and burnisher.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, letting it soak first so residue lifts from under the bezel rim. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth, and brush through the open gallery from beneath. There are no claws to check, which makes this one of our lowest maintenance rings.

Fit

A 4 mm flat band with square edges feels firmer on the finger than a narrow rounded one at the same nominal size. If you measured with a thin ring, consider going up a quarter to a half size, and tell us what you measured with so we can advise.

Resizing

The band is plain the whole way round, so it resizes cleanly, but a wide flat shank takes more work than a narrow one and the join needs careful finishing to keep the edges straight. We can move it by about two sizes.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller? Slightly, because the rim covers the outermost edge of the stone. It also makes it look better protected. A claw setting shows a fraction more stone; a bezel shows a fraction more design.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Most people wear this one alone. At 4 mm it already fills the space, and a second band next to a square edged shank tends to look crowded rather than stacked.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
