A pear cut moissanite held in a full bezel, a continuous rim of metal wrapped right around the stone with no claws at all, flanked by one tapered baguette moissanite on each side in its own square bezel. The three settings sit shoulder to shoulder in a single flat block, so the ring reads as one solid architectural unit rather than a centre stone with decoration added.

Why a full bezel suits a pear

The tip of a pear is the part most likely to chip, and a bezel encloses it completely instead of leaving it exposed under a single claw. There is nothing to snag on knitwear, nothing to catch on a bag strap, and nothing to work loose. If you are hard on your hands, this is the setting we would point you to first.

How it compares to our other pear rings with side stones

Every design is listed separately. Our marquise and round cluster ring scatters accents asymmetrically across the shoulders for an informal, organic look. Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. A bezel puts a lot of metal directly against the stone, so the metal colour shows through the edges of the moissanite more than it would in a claw setting; yellow gold gives the warmest effect, white gold the most neutral. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. A bezel is unforgiving work. The rim has to be formed to the exact outline of the stone before the stone goes in, and a pear has a point, two shoulders and a curve, each of which needs a different pressure to close. Our setters do this by hand with a hammer punch and burnisher.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. A bezel traps a little more residue under the rim than a claw setting does, so let it soak for a few minutes before brushing. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. There are no claws to check, which makes this one of the lowest maintenance rings we make.

Resizing

The back of the shank is plain, so this ring resizes comfortably by two sizes or more in either direction. The setting block is untouched.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller? Slightly, because the rim covers the outermost edge. It also makes the stone look better protected and more deliberate. A claw setting shows a fraction more stone; a bezel shows a fraction more design.

Do the baguettes sparkle? Not in the way the pear does. Step cuts flash in broad panels rather than glittering. That is what they are for.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, and unusually well. The setting block is flat bottomed and the ring sits low, so a straight band meets it almost flush.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
