Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A pear cut moissanite on a slim band whose shoulders alternate step cut baguettes with brilliant cut ovals, each held between two small metal bars. Two different cuts, two different kinds of light, set in a repeating rhythm along both sides.
We make it to order in our workshop in Surat, India. Family run, every ring finished and checked by hand.
A baguette is a step cut. Its facets are long parallel planes, so it does not sparkle. It gives broad flashes, like light off a mirror, and it reads as calm and architectural.
An oval is a brilliant cut. Its facets are small triangles and kites arranged to bounce light back at you, so it scintillates and throws coloured fire.
Set side by side and repeating, the two behave completely differently as your hand moves. The baguettes hold steady, the ovals flicker. It is a livelier effect than a row of identical stones, and it is the reason Art Deco jewellers mixed cuts so freely.
Each accent sits between two small upright bars of metal rather than being held by individual claws or buried in a channel. The bars run across the band, so from above you see stone, bar, stone, bar, all the way along.
The bars do real work. They protect the corners of the baguettes, which are the vulnerable part of any step cut, and they keep the two shapes visually separate so the alternation stays legible. Without them the row would read as a jumble.
We make three pear rings using step cut baguettes and they are not variations on one design.
The Channel Baguette ring has several small baguettes set flush inside a channel with metal walls, no bars, and no other shape mixed in. It is the sleekest.
The Tapered Baguette Three Stone has one large tapered baguette on each side, wide end inward, bar set. It is a three stone ring, not a band of accents.
This one is the only one that alternates two cuts. If the contrast between step and brilliant is what appeals to you, this is the ring, and neither of the others will give you that.
The centre is a pear cut moissanite, sometimes called a teardrop, held in six claws with a dedicated claw over the point. It is a brilliant cut, so it agrees with the ovals and contrasts with the baguettes, which is what makes the arrangement look deliberate.
Every centre stone is Colorless in body colour and VVS in clarity. The baguettes and ovals are Colorless and VVS too.
Moissanite has a higher refractive index than diamond, which is why it fires so hard, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it stands up to daily wear.
Choose the centre from 2 carat up to 5 carat. Because the band is slim and the accents are modest, the centre stays dominant at any size. At 4 or 5 carat the shoulders read as a detail rather than a feature, which some people prefer.
Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Shown in white gold, where the bars almost disappear and the row reads as continuous light. Yellow gold does the opposite, drawing the bars as clear gold lines between the stones, which makes the alternating rhythm much more obvious. If the pattern is what you like, choose yellow. Rose gold sits between the two. Silver is the most affordable route. 10K is the hardest, 14K is the everyday balance, 18K is the richest but softest. White gold is rhodium plated and needs replating every one to two years.
Nothing is taken off a shelf. We cast the band, form each bar, seat the baguettes square and the ovals true, then file and polish for your metal, centre size and finger size after your order arrives. Setting baguettes takes longer than setting rounds, because a step cut shows any misalignment immediately. That is how we offer twenty one ring sizes and forty combinations.
Warm water, a drop of mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Work the brush between the bars from both sides. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming pools, and keep it away from bleach.
Will a wedding band sit flush? Yes, reasonably, since the accents stop before the base of the shank and the band is slim. A straight band fits well.
Can it be resized? Yes, within a moderate range. The base of the shank is plain, which gives us somewhere to work.
Do the bars catch on things? They are low and rounded on top. The bars are slightly proud of the stones by design, which protects the baguettes, but they are not sharp.
Is the point of the pear protected? Yes, it has its own claw.
