A pear cut lab grown diamond surrounded by a full visible halo, with pave running down both shoulders. This is the traditional halo rather than the hidden kind. The small diamonds sit around the centre stone on the face of the ring where you see them, and they are cut and set to follow the pear outline exactly, tightening to a point at the tip and widening around the curve at the base. That does something a hidden halo cannot. It enlarges the apparent size of the stone considerably, often by a carat or more to the eye, and it gives the head a defined shape that carries at a distance. A visible halo works by making the whole head read as diamond, so white gold maximises the illusion of size by hiding the metal between the stones entirely. Yellow and rose gold instead outline the halo warmly and give the head a defined golden edge. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds halo and pave stones more securely.

Frequently asked questions

How much bigger does a halo make the stone look?
Typically the head reads one to two carats larger than the centre stone measured alone, depending on the size of the halo diamonds. It is the most cost effective way to get presence on the hand.

What is the difference between a visible halo and a hidden halo?
A visible halo sits around the stone on the face of the ring and enlarges its apparent size. A hidden halo sits beneath the girdle, is invisible from above, and adds detail only in profile. This ring has the visible kind.

Is the point of a pear vulnerable?
It is the one part that can chip, which is why the tip sits inside a V shaped claw. The halo adds a second layer of protection around the whole outline.

Is a halo harder to keep clean?
It has more crevices than a plain solitaire, so it benefits from occasional cleaning. Our lifetime cleaning and claw check covers this at no charge.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Not completely, because the halo extends beyond the width of the shank. A contoured band that curves around the point is the usual solution and we can shape one to match.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
