A pear cut lab grown diamond enclosed in a full rub over bezel, carried on cathedral shoulders above a very slim band. Of all the shapes we set, the pear benefits most from a bezel. Its point is the one genuinely vulnerable part of any diamond, and a claw setting protects it with a single V shaped claw sitting on top. A bezel does something better. The metal is drawn out into the point itself and burnished over it, so the tip is wrapped in a continuous wall on every side with nothing left exposed and nothing standing proud to catch. The bezel then follows the whole curve back around, turning the pear into an unbroken teardrop outlined in gold. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate. The bezel traces the entire teardrop outline, so the metal colour draws the shape of the ring. Yellow and rose gold give a bold gold teardrop, white gold reduces the rim to a bright edge and lets the stone spread. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and keeps a bezel point crisp rather than rounding it.
