The halo on this ring is not a plain circle of stones. It is built from scalloped sections, each one framed in milgrain, with small petal shaped points projecting at the top, bottom and both sides. Inside those frames the pave follows the curve of the oval, and behind the halo the shoulders carry their own row of pave.

It is the most decorated halo we make. Every edge is beaded and there is almost no plain metal anywhere on the head.

How it compares

Our claw set halo shows its prongs and looks like a mid century cluster. Our floating halo strips everything away and lifts the stones into the air. This one goes the other direction entirely and covers the head in framing and beadwork. If you are drawn to antique jewellery rather than to reproductions of it, this is the closest we come.

Wearing and stacking

The petal points project slightly beyond the halo, so a straight wedding band will not sit perfectly flush. A curved band designed to clear the points is the better match.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The scallops are cut and the milgrain rolled before any stone is set, because a knurling wheel cannot be run safely alongside stones already in place. Allow extra time for this design. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Milgrain and scalloped frames trap residue. Brush gently along the beading in each section rather than scrubbing across the halo. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Can this ring be resized
By about half a size. Pave and milgrain run well down the shoulders.

Is the milgrain fragile
No, but it softens with years of wear. It can be re cut by any bench jeweller.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
