Two radiant cut moissanites stand upright either side of the oval centre stone, their long axis running along the finger rather than across it. Radiant is a cut with clipped corners and brilliant faceting, so the side stones give the crisp rectangular outline of an emerald cut with the fire of a round. Placed vertically they echo the height of the oval and keep the head compact rather than wide.

The band underneath is a plain rounded shank of about 2 mm, curving up into a simple four prong trellis. Nothing else competes with the three stones.

How it compares

Our east west emerald three stone turns its side stones across the finger for maximum width, and emerald cut is a step cut, so it flashes rather than sparkles. This design does the opposite on both counts. The radiants stand tall, keeping the ring narrow, and their brilliant faceting matches the liveliness of the oval instead of contrasting with it.

Wearing and stacking

Because all three stones sit at the same height and the band is plain, a straight wedding band meets the shank cleanly on both sides. The compact head also means the ring does not overhang the finger.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two radiants are matched for size and colour before setting, then the ring is finished by hand in the metal, carat and finger size you choose. Production usually takes 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working around the corner prongs and through the open gallery. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth. Remove the ring before swimming or heavy work.

Proportioned to the centre, generally around one quarter to one third of the centre weight each.

Are clipped corners more durable
Yes. Cutting the corners removes the sharpest points of a rectangle, which are the parts most likely to chip, and each corner is protected by its own prong.
