Oval Moissanite Twisted Vine Pave Engagement Ring

Two strands of metal wrap around each other to form this band. One is left plain and highly polished, the other is set with a continuous line of pave moissanite, and the two cross over each other repeatedly on their way to the centre stone. The result is a band that alternates between light and metal as the hand moves, and an oval solitaire that appears to grow out of the twist rather than sit on top of it. The look is soft and organic without being obviously floral. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.

Design and craftsmanship

The twist is formed from two separate wires rather than carved into a single band, which is why the openings between the strands are genuinely open and let light through from behind. The pave strand is bead set with small round moissanite graduated slightly toward the centre, and the polished strand is left smooth so there is a clear rhythm of stone and metal. Total band width sits at about 2 mm where the strands cross. Every piece is hand set and finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. A moissanite of the same face up size costs a fraction of a mined diamond. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold, as photographed, keeps the twist subtle because the pave and the polished strand read as one continuous ribbon of light. Yellow and rose gold separate the two strands much more clearly and make the twist the main feature. For everyday wear 14K is harder and holds pave more securely than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. A twisted two strand shank is harder to resize than a plain band, so an accurate size at the outset matters more with this design. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and the pave are all lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

Can I wear a wedding band with a twisted shank?
A straight band will leave small gaps where the twist rises and falls. Most people pair this design with a matching twisted band or a contoured band that follows the curve. We can make either in the same metal.

How big does a 2 carat oval look?
An oval spreads more than a round of the same weight, so a 2 carat oval reads close to a 2.5 carat round face up. The narrow twisted band also makes the centre stone look larger by comparison.

Is the twist comfortable to wear?
Yes. The inside of the shank is finished smooth and slightly rounded, so what you feel against the finger is a normal comfortable band. The twist is on the outside face only.

Do the pave stones fall out?
Not in normal wear when properly bead set, which is how we set them. We recommend a bead and prong check once a year, which we do free of charge for the life of the ring.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating, so it cannot wear off.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working into the gaps between the two strands where dust and lotion collect. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
