This is the boldest version of the three stone we make. The pear side stones are large, close to the centre in scale rather than subordinate to it, and they sit tight against the oval so the three stones read as one wide continuous shape across the finger. Nothing is understated about it. If you want a ring that fills the space between the knuckles and is visible from across a room, this is the one. The band is deliberately kept plain and rounded so the stones carry the whole design. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.

Design and craftsmanship

At this scale the side stones have to be matched, not just selected. A pair of large pears that differ even slightly in length, width or shoulder curve will look wrong beside a symmetrical oval, so we match them as a pair before either is set. Each pear carries a V prong over its point, which is the only correct way to protect the tip of a large pear, and three prongs rather than two because a stone this size needs the extra hold. The oval sits a fraction higher than the pears so the eye still reads a clear centre. The band is about 2.1 mm, rounded and plain, and widens slightly at the shoulders to carry the weight of the head. Every piece is finished by hand by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, and on a ring carrying this much total stone weight the effect is considerable. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives a strong classic contrast and makes the outline of each stone clear. White gold lets the three stones blur into one broad expanse of light, which makes the ring look even larger. Rose gold softens the whole effect. For a ring with this much weight in the head we recommend 14K over 18K for durability, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The band carries no stones, so a jeweller can resize the ring later without disturbing the setting. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and both pear side stones are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How is this different from your other pear three stone rings?
Scale. The pears here are large enough to rival the centre stone, so the ring reads as a wide statement piece. Our other versions use medium or petite pears and stay closer to a solitaire in feel.

Will it look too big on a small hand?
It will read large on any hand, which is the point. If you want the same design at a gentler scale, choose the 2 carat centre, or ask us to reduce the pear size when you order.

Are large pear points prone to chipping?
The point is the vulnerable part of any pear, which is why each one here is protected by a V prong that wraps the tip rather than sitting beside it. That is the standard fix and it works.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Not perfectly. The pears extend outward over the shoulders, so a straight band will meet the ring at the outer edges of the stones. We can make a contoured band that curves around the pears for a flush fit.

Why six prongs on the centre stone?
A wide oval carrying this much weight benefits from six points of contact rather than four. It also visually breaks up the outline of the centre stone so it does not merge into the pears beside it.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, reaching under all three stones where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
