Three round accents sit along each shoulder, each one held in its own pair of prongs with a clear gap of plain metal between them. Nothing is bead set and nothing touches, so instead of a solid line of sparkle you get separate points of light with polished gold in between, like beads strung on a wire. Because each stone is fully exposed on all sides rather than sunk into a channel, the accents catch light from underneath as well as above. Design and craftsmanship

Spaced setting exposes everything. There is no shared metal to hide behind, so each accent needs its own pair of prongs cut from the shank, each pair has to be the same height and thickness as the last, and the spacing between stones has to be identical or the eye picks it up immediately along the length of the band. Our setters mark the whole row out first, drill and cut every seat before any stone goes in, then set from the head outward so the graduation runs smoothly down towards the base. The metal between the stones is polished last, because it is what the design is really about. Every ring is finished by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. Because these accents are fully exposed rather than half buried in metal, they behave like miniature solitaires, and moissanite's higher refractive index means each one throws visible coloured fire rather than just white sparkle. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the strongest version of the effect because the warm gaps separate each colourless stone clearly. Rose gold does the same more softly. White gold blurs the gaps and makes the row read closer to a continuous line. 14K is the practical daily choice, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The lower half of the band is plain, so resizing does not touch the accent settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and all the spaced accents are lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How is this different from a pave band?
Pave sets small stones close together with beads so they read as one continuous surface. Here each stone stands alone in its own prongs with polished metal between, which is a cleaner and more graphic look.

Do exposed prongs catch on things?
They are filed low and rounded, so in normal wear they behave much like a plain band. They are slightly more exposed than pave beads, which is worth knowing if you work with fabric or gloves.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Yes. The accents sit above the band line and the shank is straight, so a plain band lies neatly against it.

Can accent stones fall out?
Individually prong set stones are secure when the prongs are cut properly, and this style makes any loose prong easy to spot. We include a lifetime setting check and recommend an annual inspection.

Which centre size suits it?
All four. The spaced accents are a supporting detail rather than a frame, so they work equally well with a 2 carat and a 5 carat centre.

Is it easier to clean than pave?
Yes, noticeably. There are no tight bead channels for dust to sit in, just open gaps a brush can reach.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush along the row and around the centre stone, then rinse and pat dry.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is made only after it is ordered.
