Two broad strands wind around each other the whole way round the finger, both left as plain polished metal. There are no stones on the band at all. It is the rope twist worked entirely in gold.

Stripped of stones, the twist has to work purely as form, which means the strands have to be genuinely well shaped. Where they cross, how tightly they wind, how they taper as they approach the head, all of it is visible with nothing to distract from it.

How it compares

Our entwined rope twist pave ring is the same construction with pave along one of the two strands. This one has no stones at all, which makes it the quieter and the less expensive of the pair, and considerably the more robust: nothing can loosen, nothing needs checking, and there is no beading to wear away over the years.

Our open loop crossover band solitaire is also plain, but its strands separate with daylight between them. These are wound tight with no gaps, so this is the heavier and more solid of the two plain twists.

Wearing and stacking

A twisted profile does not meet a straight band cleanly, so a contoured band is the better companion. The ring is substantial enough to wear alone.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. With no stones to draw the eye, the polish and the evenness of the winding are the entire finish, and both have to be right. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush worked along the groove where the two strands meet, which is the only place dirt collects. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Are there any accent stones
No. This design is a plain solitaire.

Can this ring be resized
Within a reasonable range. There are no stones in the shank, which helps a great deal, though the winding must stay even across any join.

Is a plain twist less special than a set one
It is quieter, certainly. It is also the version that will look identical in thirty years, because there is nothing on it to wear or loosen.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
