The band is made of two fine strands that wind around each other on the way to the setting. One strand carries a line of pave, the other stays plain and polished, so as the twist turns the shoulder alternates between light and metal. Beneath the oval a hidden halo of small accents rings the gallery. Everything about the ring is deliberately petite: the strands are narrow, the pave stones are small, and the whole shank stays under 2 mm wide, which keeps a botanical design from looking heavy. Design and craftsmanship

Twisting two strands and then setting stones into only one of them is the difficult part. The pave has to sit on the outer face of the moving strand, which means each seat is cut at a slightly different angle as the strand rolls over, and the row must still read as an unbroken line of light from the top. Our setters lay out the whole row first, then bright cut the edge so a fine polished border follows the twist. The hidden halo is set into the gallery before the head is joined to the shank, low enough that nothing shows from above. The two strands merge into a single plain band at the base of the finger, which is where the ring is resized. Every ring is finished by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. On a twisted band the pave changes angle constantly, which suits moissanite because its higher refractive index throws coloured fire from whichever facet happens to be catching light. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold, as photographed, blends the pave into the metal so the twist reads as one continuous ribbon. Yellow gold separates the two strands clearly and looks more like a living vine. Rose gold is the most romantic. For a fine twisted band 14K is the practical daily choice, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The strands merge into a plain band at the base, so resizing is done there and never disturbs the pave or the twist.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone, the pave and the hidden halo are all lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How is this different from your other twisted vine rings?
Our braided and ornate vine designs are heavier, with pave over most of the metal. This one is deliberately petite: two fine strands, pave on only one of them, and a hidden halo instead of visible accents under the stone.

Does the hidden halo show?
Only from the side. From directly above the ring reads as a solitaire on a twisted band.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
A straight band meets the twist at its high points, so there can be tiny gaps between. A matching twisted band or a contoured band nests much better, and we can make one.

Is a twisted band harder to keep clean?
Slightly, because dust settles in the groove between the strands. A soft brush along the twist takes care of it.

Is it strong enough for daily wear?
Yes in 14K or 18K gold. Two strands twisted together are structurally sound. In 925 sterling silver, a softer metal, treat it a little more gently.

Which centre size suits it?
Two and three carat keep the delicate proportion this design is built around. Four and five carat still work and create a strong contrast between a large stone and a very fine band.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the twist and around the gallery, then rinse and pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners at home.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is made only after it is ordered.
