Oval Moissanite Petite Trellis Low Profile Solitaire Engagement Ring

The band is the thinnest we make and it tapers slightly as it approaches the stone, so the oval looks larger by comparison. Underneath, the four prongs cross over each other in a small woven trellis instead of sitting on a basket, which lets the stone drop as close to the finger as it safely can.

There is no cathedral rise and no decoration. The ring is almost entirely stone when seen from above.

How it compares

Our cathedral solitaire lifts the stone on an arch. This one does the reverse and keeps everything as low and as thin as possible. Against our round wire trellis design, the difference is the cross section: that band is a full round wire, this one is a flattened taper, which makes the stone look bigger and the band nearly disappear.

Wearing and stacking

A low setting on a thin band is the easiest combination to live with. It slides under gloves, does not catch on knitwear, and sits flush against any wedding band.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. A 1.4 mm band has very little metal to work with, so it is drawn from harder stock than our standard shanks to keep it from going out of round with wear. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. The trellis has small gaps where the prongs cross, so work the brush under the stone as well as over it. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions buyers ask

Is a 1.4 mm band too fragile
It is thinner than average and will show wear sooner than a 2 mm band. If you are hard on jewellery, choose one of our 1.8 mm or wider designs.

Are there any accent stones
No. This design is a plain solitaire.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The band carries no stones.

Will a large stone overwhelm a band this thin
That contrast is the point of the design, and it holds up well through 3 carat. At 4 and 5 carat the effect is dramatic but the band stays proportionally very slim.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
