Two small pear cut moissanite sit tight against an oval centre stone, each one just large enough to catch light without pulling attention away from the middle. This is the quietest of our pear side stone designs. The pears are deliberately kept small, the band is a slim tapered wire, and the whole ring reads as a solitaire that has been given a little extra width rather than as a three stone ring. Design and craftsmanship

Setting a small pear well is harder than setting a large one. There is very little girdle to grip, the point is the most fragile part of the stone, and if the two prongs are not perfectly aligned the pear looks tilted from above. We set each one by hand and check the alignment against the centre stone before finishing. The pears sit low and close, which keeps the profile slim and means the ring does not catch. The shank tapers from about 1.9 mm at the shoulders down to 1.6 mm at the base, which makes the head look larger without adding bulk to the finger. Every piece is finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. Small stones show fire more readily than large ones, so the petite pears flash noticeably as the hand moves. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, keeps the ring warm and traditional and makes the small colorless pears stand out clearly. White gold lets the three stones merge into one continuous shape. Rose gold gives the softest look. For everyday wear 14K is harder and holds small prongs more securely over time than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The plain shank resizes easily later, though ordering the correct size at the outset is always better. Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and both pear side stones are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How is this different from your other pear side stone rings?
The side stones here are deliberately petite and set low, so the ring reads as a solitaire with a little extra sparkle. Our other versions use larger pears, and one of those sits on a cathedral shank for more height and presence.

Are small pear side stones secure?
Yes when set correctly. Each pear is held by two prongs, one of which protects the point, which is the vulnerable part of any pear cut. We check every setting by hand and offer a free annual prong check for the life of the ring.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Yes. The side stones sit low and the shank is plain, so a straight wedding band sits flat against the ring with no gap.

Does the tapered band make the stone look bigger?
Yes. Narrowing the band toward the base gives the eye less metal to compare the oval against, so the centre stone reads larger than it would on a straight band of even width.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working under the centre stone and around the small pears where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
