This ring is designed around the wedding band that will sit beside it. The head is lifted just enough, and the shank kept straight and flat sided, so that a plain band meets it along its whole length with no gap and no rocking. Above that, an oval moissanite sits between two small pear cut sides on an open scalloped gallery. It is a three stone in shape but a quiet one, because the pears are kept small and set low against the shoulders. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.

Design and craftsmanship

A perfect fit ring is judged by what happens when you put a second ring next to it. Two things have to be right. The base of the head must clear the top edge of the wedding band, and the shank must be straight rather than tapering, so the two bands meet face to face all the way round. We build to both. Under the head the gallery is cut into a row of open arches, which keeps the setting light, lets light into the pavilion of the oval and makes the ring far easier to clean than a solid basket. The pears sit on that gallery rather than on separate heads, which is what keeps them low. Every piece is finished by hand by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, and the open arched gallery here gives light every chance to reach the stone from below. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, is warm and traditional and makes the colorless pears stand out. White gold lets the three stones read as one continuous shape. Rose gold is the softest of the three. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds small pear prongs more securely over time, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The band carries no stones, so it can be resized later without disturbing the setting. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and both pear side stones are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What does perfect fit mean?
It means the ring is built so a straight wedding band sits flush against it with no gap. The head is raised enough to clear the band and the shank is straight rather than tapered, so the two rings meet along their whole contact edge.

Do I need to buy the matching band from you?
No. Any straight wedding band of similar width will sit flush. We can make one to match if you want the metals and finish to be identical.

What is the open arched gallery for?
It is the row of cut out arches beneath the head. It reduces the weight of the setting, lets light reach the underside of the stone and makes cleaning much easier than a closed basket.

Are the small pear side stones secure?
Yes. Each is held by two prongs, one of which covers the point, which is the vulnerable part of a pear cut. We check every setting by hand and offer a free annual prong check.

Does the ring sit high on the finger?
It sits at a moderate height, deliberately. Enough to clear a wedding band, not so much that it feels top heavy or catches.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. The open gallery means you can reach the whole underside of the centre stone, which is where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
