Three stones and almost no metal. The oval sits between two pears set close on either side, and the band that carries them is a fine round wire of about 1.8 mm that stays the same width all the way round. Because the shank is so slim and the stones are set close together, the trio reads as a single continuous line of light lying along the finger with very little gold interrupting it. It is the most delicate three stone ring we make. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.

Design and craftsmanship

The difficulty here is holding three stones on a wire this fine. Rather than building three separate baskets, our goldsmiths make the head as one small unit with shared prongs between the centre and each pear, which removes a whole column of metal from each side and lets the stones sit close. Each pear point is protected by its own V shaped prong. The shank is then drawn to an even round section and polished, and because it does not taper there is no visual trick propping up the design: the proportions have to be right in the metal. Every ring is finished by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. With so little metal around them all three stones are open to light from every side, and moissanite's higher refractive index turns that into strong coloured fire. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, draws a fine warm line under three colourless stones, which is the classic look for this design. White gold makes the band nearly disappear so the stones seem to float. Rose gold is the softest. For a 1.8 mm band 14K is the sensible everyday choice, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable, though softer.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The band is plain and even, so it is one of the easiest of our designs to resize.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and both pear side stones are lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How is this different from your other pear three stone rings?
Our notched version has a carved groove in each shoulder and a tapering band. This one has a completely plain round wire of even width, which makes it noticeably more delicate and puts all the visual weight on the three stones.

Is a 1.8 mm band strong enough for three stones?
Yes in 14K or 18K gold with normal care. The head is a single unit rather than three separate settings, which spreads the load into the shank. In 925 sterling silver we recommend gentler wear.

Are pear points fragile?
The tip is the most vulnerable part of any pear, which is why each one sits in a V shaped prong that covers the point rather than beside it.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Yes. The stones sit above the band line and the shank is straight, so a matching fine band lies right against it.

Does it make the finger look longer?
Yes. All three stones run along the finger rather than across it, and the thin band adds to that effect.

Which centre size suits it?
Two and three carat suit the delicate proportion best. Four and five carat still work but the contrast between a large stone and a very fine band becomes the main statement.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush around the shared prongs, then rinse and pat dry. With no pave this ring is easy to keep clean.

How long does it take to make?
