Two pear cut moissanites sit either side of the oval with their points facing away from the centre stone and their rounded ends against it. Turned this way the three stones flow into one another, and the points draw the eye outward along the finger rather than back toward the middle.

Each pear is held in three prongs, one at the tip and two on the shoulders, which is the safest way to hold a pointed stone. The band is plain and rounded so the three stones do all the work.

How it compares

Point the pears inward and the ring gathers toward the centre; point them outward, as here, and it spreads. Outward facing pears make the whole top of the ring look wider on the finger, which is why people who want presence from a three stone design usually choose this direction.

The pear points sit above the shank, so a straight wedding band meets plain metal and nothing rubs against a stone.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush behind the three stones. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth. Check the V prongs on the points once a year.

Are pear points fragile
The point is the thinnest part of any pear cut, which is why we protect it with a V shaped prong. Moissanite is hard, but avoid direct knocks on the tips.

How big are the side stones
Scaled to the centre stone, roughly 0.30 carat each beside a 2 carat oval and larger for the bigger sizes.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The band carries no stones.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
