Oval Moissanite Open Split Shank Solitaire Engagement Ring

The band opens as it approaches the setting. Each shoulder divides into two polished strands with a long slot of open space between them, then closes again to hold the oval in four claw prongs. There are no stones on the shoulders at all, so the design works entirely through shape.

Looked at from above, those two openings frame the centre stone and make the top of the ring read wider than the band actually is.

How it compares

Our other split band design carries a bezel and closes tightly around it. This one keeps prongs and opens the split wide, so you see through the shoulders. It gives a plain ring some architecture without adding a single stone.

Wearing and stacking

The back of the band is a normal round shank, so a wedding band sits against it flush. The openings are on the top half where nothing touches.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two strands have to be filed and polished evenly on all four faces, including inside the openings where a file barely reaches. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush through the openings. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Does the split weaken the band
No. The two strands together carry more metal than a single 2 mm shank at that point.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The back of the band is plain and unsplit.

Does anything catch in the openings
The slots are polished and open at both ends, so nothing collects in them.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
