The band splits well back on each shoulder and the two strands cross a single time, leaving a wide open loop of daylight before they rejoin and run up to the stone. The strands are thick and fully rounded, and there are no stones anywhere on the ring.

One crossing rather than several is what makes this feel calm. There is enough movement to catch the eye and enough open space to keep the ring from looking heavy.

How it compares

Our braided solitaire twists its strands twice on each side and keeps them tight together, which reads as a rope. This one crosses once and opens the gap up, which reads as a loop. Same two strand idea, very different amount of movement.

Wearing and stacking

The loop leaves an opening where a straight wedding band meets the shoulder. Most people wear this one alone or with a matching plain band.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The crossing point is formed over a mandrel rather than cast in place, which is what keeps the loop open and even on both sides instead of collapsing toward the stone. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work the brush through the open loop on each side, where soap tends to sit. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
