Three stones, three baskets. Rather than seating the pears on a shared plate beside the centre stone, each one here sits in its own open V shaped basket, joined to the others only at the gallery. From above the ring reads as a clean trilogy. From the side you see three separate cages of metal, all of them open, all of them letting light straight through. The band stays slim and rounded so the head is clearly the whole design. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.

Design and craftsmanship

Building three separate baskets and joining them is more work than casting one solid head, and it is the reason this ring looks the way it does. Each pear can be levelled independently, so the two sides finish at exactly the same height even if the stones vary by a fraction. The V shape of the side baskets follows the outline of the pear rather than boxing it in a circle, so no metal is visible around the stone from above. Underneath, all three baskets are open, which lets light into the pavilions and makes the whole head easy to clean. The band tapers slightly toward the shoulders at about 1.9 mm. Every piece is finished by hand by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, and open baskets like these give light the maximum chance to enter and leave each stone. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, outlines each stone separately and gives the ring a classic look. White gold lets the three stones merge into one bright shape. Rose gold is the warmest and softest. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds pear prongs more securely over the years, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The band carries no stones, so it can be resized later without disturbing the setting. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and both pear side stones are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What is an open basket and why does it matter?
The basket is the cage of metal that holds a stone. An open one has cut outs on all sides rather than a solid wall, which lets light reach the pavilion, reduces weight and makes cleaning far easier.

Why give each stone its own basket?
It lets us level each stone independently, so the two pears finish at exactly the same height. On a shared plate a slight difference in stone depth shows immediately.

How large are the pear sides?
They are medium scale side stones, clearly subordinate to the oval but substantial enough to read as a proper three stone rather than as accents.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Close. The side stones sit above the shank, so a straight band meets the ring at the outer edge of the baskets. We can make a contoured band if you want a perfect fit.

Are the pear points protected?
Yes. Each pear has a prong wrapping its tip, which is the correct way to protect the most vulnerable part of the cut. We offer a free annual prong check.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. The open baskets mean you can reach under all three stones, which is where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
