A single row halo surrounds the oval with milgrain beading running around both its outer and inner edges. The shoulders rise to meet it in a cathedral arc, and the pave along them tapers, wide and generous where it joins the halo and narrowing steadily as it runs toward the back of the band.

The taper is what makes this design sit well on the hand. The ring is at its widest exactly where the eye goes and at its slimmest where it has to pass between the fingers.

How it compares

Our floral scalloped halo breaks its halo into framed sections and covers the head in ornament. This one keeps the halo as a clean single row and puts the antique character into the milgrain and the taper instead. It is the more restrained of the two vintage halos and the easier to wear daily.

Wearing and stacking

The cathedral arc leaves space beneath the halo, so a straight wedding band tucks in under the head. The narrow back of the band keeps the pair comfortable between the fingers.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. A tapering pave row needs the stone sizes to step down smoothly or the taper looks like a mistake, so the stones are graded into size groups before any seat is cut. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush along the milgrain on both edges of the halo and down the tapering rows. Rinse thoroughly under the halo. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
