The shoulders of this ring are built as an openwork scroll. A vine of gold curls back on itself in a loose spiral on each side of the oval, and set into that scroll are three shapes of moissanite: marquise cut stones laid along the vine like long leaves, pear cut stones tucked where the vine turns, and small rounds pave set along the outer edge of the shank.

Because the vine is pierced rather than solid, you can see straight through the shoulders in places, which keeps a busy design from looking heavy. There is no halo. The oval is held in four plain claw prongs so it stays clearly separate from all the detail around it.

The scrolled shoulders are wider than a standard 2 mm band and take far longer to pierce and set. That work is already included in the price shown, so nothing is added at checkout.

How it compares

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The vine is pierced and filed by hand before the marquise, pear and round accents are set individually. Every ring is made after you order in the metal, carat and finger size you choose, usually within 10 to 14 working days for this design.

Care

Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap and work a soft brush through the openings in the scroll, where dust gathers. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth. Have the accent settings checked once a year.

Around thirty to forty depending on finger size, made up of marquise, pear and round moissanite.

Do the marquise points catch on clothing
No. Each marquise lies flat along the vine and its points are covered by fine prongs.

Can this ring be resized
Within a size or so, using the plain metal at the back of the band. Larger changes are difficult because the scroll runs a long way round.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
