The halo on this ring is not sitting on a basket. It is carried on a pair of slim arms that rise from the shoulders, so there is open space underneath the whole head and the halo appears to float above the finger. The pave on the shoulders climbs those arms and stops where the halo begins.

Because nothing is enclosed, light reaches the oval from below as well as from above, and the ring casts very little shadow onto the finger.

How it compares

Most halo rings, including our classic pave halo, seat the halo on a solid basket that sits close to the finger. This one lifts the halo clear of the band on open arms. It wears higher, shows more of the side of the stone, and is noticeably easier to clean underneath.

Wearing and stacking

The gap under the head means a straight wedding band slides right up against the shoulders. The high setting does sit proud of the finger, so it is more likely to catch on knitwear than a low set design.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two arms carrying the halo are the thinnest load bearing part of the ring, so they are drawn from heavier stock than a standard basket and checked under magnification before the halo goes on. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 10 to 14 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. The open underside is the easiest kind of halo to keep clean. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Is a floating halo as strong as one on a basket
It is strong enough for daily wear, though a basket does distribute knocks better. If you work with your hands, our classic pave halo is the sturdier choice.

Roughly 8 to 9 mm above the finger with a 2 carat centre stone.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes. The back of the band is plain.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
