The accents on this band are graduated. The largest sit right beside the centre stone and each one after it is a little smaller, so the sparkle fades away toward the back of the finger instead of stopping abruptly. It is an old jeweller's trick for making the centre stone look bigger than it is.

They are set into a flat topped band with straight walls rather than a rounded one, which gives the shoulders a squared off, architectural edge and holds the stones in a straight line.

How it compares

Uniform pave keeps every accent the same size, which reads even and modern. Graduating them, as here, makes the eye travel up the band toward the centre stone. Combined with a flat top rather than a rounded band, it is the sturdiest looking of our pave designs.

Wearing and stacking

The flat top means a straight wedding band sits against a flat surface, which is more comfortable than a rounded shank for stacking.
