The accents on this band are French set, which means the metal is cut away in a V beneath each stone so light enters from underneath as well as above. Seen from the side the band looks like a row of scalloped windows rather than a solid strip, and the stones themselves are noticeably larger than standard pave.

Under the oval, a straight row of small round moissanites is set across the top of the basket as a hidden halo. You see it from the side and from above the finger, not from directly overhead, so the face of the ring stays clean.

How it compares

Our other bold pave hidden halo ring uses a flat topped bead setting, so the shoulders read as one continuous line of stones with metal walls either side. This one cuts those walls away. The accents sit more exposed, catch light from below, and the shoulders sparkle harder for the same stone size. It is the brighter of the two and the more open to look at from the side.

Wearing and stacking

Because the pave runs most of the way round, a flat wedding band sits close but will meet stones rather than plain metal at the sides. A matching French set band or a curved band avoids that.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. French setting takes longer than ordinary pave because each seat has to be drilled and shaped from both sides without weakening the band. Every ring is made after you order in the metal, carat and finger size you choose, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working from underneath as well as on top. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth. The open cutouts make this design easier to keep bright than closed pave.

Questions buyers ask

What is a hidden halo
A ring of small stones set around or across the basket below the centre stone. It shows when the ring is seen from the side, and adds sparkle without changing the outline of the oval from above.

Can this ring be resized
By about one size in either direction. The pave runs a long way round, which limits how much the band can be cut and rejoined.

Will the open settings catch on things
No. The cutouts are on the inner and outer walls of the band, not on the surface, so the outside stays smooth.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
