Two broad strands wind around one another the whole way round the finger. One strand carries pave along its length, the other stays plain polished metal, so the sparkle appears and disappears as the strands roll past each other.

These are rope strands rather than fine wires. They are substantial, closely wound and leave no daylight gaps, which gives the ring real weight on the hand and makes the twist read as a rope rather than as a crossover.

How it compares

Our infinity twist pave ring uses slender strands with open gaps between the crossings and paves both of them, so it reads light and airy. This one uses broad strands wound tight with no gaps and paves only one, so it reads solid and has a rhythm to it. The milgrain twist vine ring is different again, adding beading and keeping the whole thing antique in character.

The plain version

We make this same entwined rope band with no stones on it at all, as the Plain Entwined Rope Solitaire. Identical construction, both strands left polished. It is the quieter and less expensive of the pair, and considerably the more robust, since there is no beading to wear and nothing that can loosen. If the rope itself is what appeals to you rather than the sparkle, buy that one instead.

Wearing and stacking

A twisted profile meets a straight band at intervals rather than along a line, so a contoured band fits properly. Many people wear this one alone; it is substantial enough to carry that.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Keeping a twist even around a complete circle is harder than keeping it even across two shoulders, because any drift accumulates and meets itself at the base of the ring. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush along the twist from both sides and all the way round. Dirt collects where the two strands meet. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
