A slim polished band carries a small hand engraved wheat motif on each shoulder, a short run of ears and stem cut into the metal just where the band meets the head. There are no accent stones anywhere on this ring.

Engraving is the older way of decorating a band and it behaves differently from pave. It reads through shadow rather than through light, so it is quiet in a bright room and surprisingly clear in a soft one. Nothing can loosen and nothing needs checking.

Our Celtic knot engraved shoulder ring cuts a bolder interlaced pattern that covers more of the shoulder and reads clearly from a distance. This one is far quieter, a small botanical detail you notice at close range and not before. It is also the less expensive of the two and the easier to resize.

Wearing and stacking

The band is slim, rounded and plain below the engraving, so a straight wedding band sits flush against it. One of the easiest rings we make to stack.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Engraving is cut by hand under a microscope, so no two rings are identical at close range. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush across the engraved lines rather than along them. Engraving filled with hand cream loses its shadow and stops reading until it is cleaned out. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The band carries no stones.

Will the engraving wear away
The high points soften over many years of daily wear. It can be recut. Choosing 10K or 14K rather than 18K slows it considerably.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
Sizes 3 to 13 including half sizes. Message us before ordering if you need something outside that range.
