Four marquise cut emeralds sit either side of the oval like small green leaves, two on each shoulder, angled away from the centre stone as though they are growing out from the band. The green reads clearly against the colorless oval and against yellow gold in particular, which is the whole point of the design.

Behind the leaves the shank divides into two fine strands that twist around each other and rejoin at the back of the finger, so the band looks like a length of vine rather than a plain wire. The oval is held in six slim claw prongs with an open gallery beneath.

How it compares

Our other leaf designs use colorless moissanite or plain sculpted metal for the foliage. Swapping in green emerald changes the ring completely. The leaves stop reading as sparkle and start reading as colour, which makes the botanical idea obvious at a glance instead of only up close.

Wearing and stacking

The leaves sit low and angle away from the finger, so a straight wedding band can still meet the shank at the sides. A plain band suits it best, since the vine already gives the ring its texture.

Care

Emerald is softer than moissanite and does not like heat or harsh chemicals. Clean this ring with lukewarm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush only. Never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner on it, and take it off before using bleach or household cleaners.

Are emeralds durable enough for an engagement ring
Emerald is softer than moissanite and needs a little more care, which is why we use it only for the small accents here and keep them low in the setting. Avoid knocks and ultrasonic cleaning and they will wear well.
