Instead of round pave, the shoulders on this ring carry a row of small emerald cut stones set side by side in shared prongs. Step cut accents behave quite differently from brilliants. They flash in broad rectangles rather than sparkling, so the band reads as a row of small mirrors.

Because each stone is rectangular, the row has straight edges top and bottom, which gives the shoulders a crisp architectural line no round stone can produce.

How it compares

Every other accent band in our oval range uses round or fancy brilliant stones. This is the only one that runs step cuts along the shoulder. If you like the deco look of our tapered baguette three stone but want it carried around the band rather than concentrated at the sides, this is that ring.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Step cut accents must be matched for length and depth or the straight line along the top of the row will visibly wander, so the stones are graded as a set before any are placed. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Step cut facets show marks more than brilliant facets. Wipe with a soft cloth between cleanings to keep the row bright. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Why do the accents look less sparkly than pave
They are step cut, so they reflect in broad flashes rather than many small points. That contrast against the brilliant cut oval is the intent.
