An oval moissanite sits at the centre of a small garden. On each shoulder, marquise cut green lab emeralds are set as leaves alongside colorless marquise and round accents, all branching off a fine polished shank. The green is the point of the ring. Against yellow gold it reads as new foliage rather than as a formal gemstone accent, and it gives the design a colour story that a plain white ring cannot. Design and craftsmanship

The leaf cluster is built as a small branch rather than a symmetrical row. Each emerald and each colorless accent is set at its own angle, which is what makes the group read as growth instead of as a pattern. The emeralds are lab created, so their green is consistent from stone to stone and free of the inclusions that make natural emerald difficult to set at this size. Under the head the gallery is left open, which lets light through the oval from below and makes the ring easy to clean. The shank is a plain rounded band of about 1.8 mm, and the head sits low so the ring does not catch. Every piece is hand set and finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. Set beside green emerald that extra fire is especially visible, because the eye keeps moving between the warm sparkle of the centre and the flat saturated green of the leaves. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

For everyday wear 14K is harder and more scratch resistant than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The plain shank resizes easily later, though ordering the correct size at the outset is always better. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and the colorless accents are lab created moissanite, and the green leaves are lab created emerald. We never describe it as a diamond.

Are the green stones real emeralds?
They are lab created emeralds, which are chemically and optically the same material as mined emerald but grown rather than dug. Lab emerald is cleaner and more consistent in colour, which matters at this small size.

Is emerald durable enough for an engagement ring?
Emerald is softer than moissanite, around 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale. As small accents set low against the shoulders they are well protected, but this is a ring to take off for manual work and to keep away from hard knocks.

Will the green fade?
No. The colour is part of the crystal, not a coating or a treatment applied to the surface, so it does not fade with wear or sunlight.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Mostly. The leaf cluster sits above the shank on both shoulders, so a straight band sits flat against the base of the ring but will not tuck under the leaves. A contoured band gives the closest fit and we can make one to match.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Be gentle around the emeralds and avoid ultrasonic cleaners, which are not recommended for emerald of any origin.

How long does it take to make?
