Oval Moissanite East West Chevron Pave Engagement Ring

Instead of running straight across the finger, the band dips into a deep V and the centre stone sits in the point of that chevron, turned sideways so its length lies across the ring rather than along it. Pave runs the full length of both arms of the V, which draws the eye down into the point where the stone sits. It is an architectural, contemporary shape and it does something practical too: the V nests naturally with a curved or chevron wedding band. Design and craftsmanship

A chevron band is difficult because the pave has to follow a line that changes direction sharply at the point. The stones nearest the V sit at an angle to their neighbours, so each seat is cut individually and the bead work has to stay even through the turn, otherwise the row looks kinked rather than curved. Our setters lay out both arms from the point outward so the two sides mirror each other exactly. The centre stone is set low into the V, which is what makes the ring sit flat despite the dramatic shape. Every ring is finished by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. An oval set east west shows a long horizontal flash across the finger rather than a vertical one, and moissanite's higher refractive index makes that flash noticeably more colourful than a diamond of the same size. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the V a strong graphic outline against the skin. White gold merges the pave into one continuous bright line. Rose gold warms the whole shape. 14K is the practical daily choice for a pave band, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The lower part of the band is plain, so resizing is done there and does not touch the pave.

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and the pave are lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What does east west mean?
The oval is set sideways, with its long axis running across the finger instead of along it. It is a modern way to wear an oval and it reads quite differently from the usual orientation.

What is a chevron band?
A band that dips into a V shape at the top rather than running straight. Here the centre stone sits in the point of that V.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Better than on most rings, provided it is curved or chevron shaped: a V band nests into the point exactly. A straight band will leave a gap at the centre, so we recommend a contoured one, which we can make to match.

Does an east west setting suit every hand?
It emphasises width rather than length, so it reads bolder on a narrow finger and very comfortable on a broader one. If you want a lengthening effect, a north south oval suits better.

Can pave come loose at the point of the V?
That is the spot to watch on any chevron ring, which is why the beads there are set into thicker metal. We include a lifetime setting check and recommend an annual inspection.

Which centre size suits it?
Two and three carat sit neatly within the V. Four and five carat span more of the finger and make the chevron shape harder to read, though the effect is striking.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush along both arms of the V and around the centre stone, then rinse and pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners at home.
