Save 20%This is the halo everyone pictures when they hear the word. A continuous ring of small round moissanites surrounds the oval, following its outline exactly, and the pave carries on down both shoulders and around roughly three quarters of the band before stopping at the base. There is no hidden halo, no twist, no engraving; the entire effect comes from stones sitting shoulder to shoulder in a single unbroken sweep. A halo of this type is the most reliable way to make a centre stone look larger, and the three quarter pave makes the whole ring read as light from every angle. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.
An oval halo is harder to set than a round one because the curve changes constantly. Around the ends of the stone the halo turns tightly and the accents have to shrink slightly to keep the spacing even; along the sides the curve is gentle and they can be larger. Get that graduation wrong and the halo looks lumpy at the tips, which is the most common fault in a badly made oval halo. Our setters lay out the seats for the whole halo before cutting any of them, so the sizes step correctly around the whole ellipse. The shank pave is then cut to match, and it stops cleanly at a defined point rather than fading out, leaving a plain quarter at the base for resizing. Every ring is set by hand in our Surat workshop.
Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. Its refractive index is higher, so it returns more coloured fire. In a halo design that matters twice over: the centre stone throws fire outward and the ring of small stones around it throws it back, which is why halo rings look brighter than their carat weight suggests. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.
Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold, as photographed, is the standard choice because it lets the halo blend seamlessly into the centre stone and maximises the size illusion. Yellow and rose gold outline the halo instead, so the ring looks framed rather than enlarged. For a fully paved ring worn daily 14K is harder than 18K and holds the small beads better, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.
Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The base quarter of the band is left plain deliberately, so the ring can be resized later without disturbing any pave.
We can extend the pave the full way round, leave the shank plain, add a hidden halo beneath the main one, use a lab grown diamond or a coloured moissanite as the centre, or make a matching pave wedding band. Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone, the halo and all the pave are lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.
How much bigger does a halo make the stone look?
A full halo typically adds the appearance of roughly half a carat to a carat, depending on the size of the accents. A 2 carat oval in this setting reads closer to a 3 carat stone from a normal viewing distance.
What does three quarter pave mean?
The pave runs from the head down both shoulders and around most of the band, stopping before the base. It gives you the look of a fully set band while keeping a plain section that can be resized.
Can this ring be resized?
Yes, at the plain base section. That is exactly why we stop the pave where we do. A fully paved eternity style band cannot be resized without resetting stones.
Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Not completely. The halo extends past the shank on both sides, so a straight band meets the halo edge and leaves a small gap. A contoured band curves around the halo and sits properly; we can make one to match.
Do halo stones fall out?
Rarely when properly set. Each accent sits in its own cut seat held by raised beads. We recommend a check once a year, which we do free of charge for the life of the ring.
Which centre size suits this setting?
All four. The halo is scaled to your centre stone so the proportion stays correct. At 2 carat the halo has the biggest visual impact; at 5 carat it becomes a frame around an already large stone.
How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working underneath the halo where lotion collects. This matters more on halo rings than on plain ones. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.
How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes twelve to sixteen working days for this design, since the halo and shank pave are set by hand, plus shipping time.
