The shoulders of this ring are not a band at all in the usual sense. They are three strands of metal woven over and under one another in a continuous knot, the pattern Celtic metalworkers used because it has no beginning and no end. The weave runs from the setting down both sides and closes into a single rounded shank at the back of the finger.

The oval sits above the knot in four fine claw prongs with an open gallery, lifted just enough that the weave reads clearly underneath it. There are no accent stones anywhere. The interest is entirely in the way the metal moves.

How it compares

Our crossover twist ring uses two strands, one plain and one pave set, crossing once. This is a true weave with three strands and several crossings, and no stones at all. Against the sculpted leaf design, the knot is geometric rather than botanical, which suits people who want meaning in the pattern rather than nature imagery.

The knot sits close to the finger and the back of the band is plain, so the ring is comfortable and easy to size. A plain wedding band pairs best, since a second patterned ring competes with the weave.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush worked through the openings in the weave, where dust and soap can gather. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint free cloth.

Are there stones hidden in the weave
No. The knot is solid metal throughout. The oval is the only stone on the ring.

It needs a brush rather than just a rinse because of the openings, but it is no harder to look after than a pave band.
