Oval Moissanite Cathedral Open Gallery Solitaire Engagement Ring

The shoulders lift away from the finger in a smooth arc and meet the stone at the top, the way the arches of a cathedral rise to a vault. Between them the gallery is left open, with a single squared bar crossing under the oval to hold the four prongs square to each other.

Everything else is plain. The band is polished with no stones and no texture, so the shape of the arch is the whole design.

How it compares

Our petite trellis solitaire keeps the band flat to the finger and sets the stone as low as it will go. This one deliberately does the opposite and lifts the stone on an arch, which puts more light under the oval and makes the ring easier to see from across a room. Against our box basket design, the difference is that the gallery here is open at the sides rather than framed.

Wearing and stacking

The arch leaves a gap under the setting, so a straight wedding band tucks in close on both sides without touching the stone. This is one of the easiest of our designs to pair with a plain band.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two arches are filed together so they match, since any difference between them shows immediately when the ring is looked at from the front. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. The open sides make it easy to clean underneath the stone. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

A cathedral sits higher than a low setting, so it can catch on knitwear. If that matters to you, our low set designs sit closer to the finger.

No. This design is a plain solitaire.

Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
