It is not perfectly round, it thickens and thins along its length, and a fine granulated texture runs down one side like bark while the other stays smooth and polished. Where it reaches the head it divides, and small marquise and round moissanite are scattered across the split like buds catching light. Nothing is placed symmetrically, which is the point. Design and craftsmanship

Designs meant to look irregular are the hardest to make well, because irregularity still has to be balanced. If the clusters on the two shoulders differ too much the ring looks like a mistake, and if they match exactly the organic effect is lost. We work to a set layout that keeps the two sides similar in weight while different in arrangement. The bark texture is applied by hand with a graver after casting, not moulded in, which is why it reads as depth rather than as a printed pattern. How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire. Because the accents here sit at different angles, they light up at different moments as the hand moves, which is the closest a ring gets to looking alive. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and every accent are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

Are the two sides identical?
No, deliberately. The clusters are balanced in weight but arranged differently, which is what makes the ring read as organic rather than machine made.

Is the bark texture rough on the finger?
No. The texture is on the outer surface only and is polished after cutting so it has depth without sharpness. The inner surface is a smooth comfort fit curve.

Will the texture wear smooth over time?
The high points soften over many years of wear, which most people like. We can recut the texture at any point for you.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Not perfectly, because the branch shank is uneven by design. A contoured band shaped to this ring is the right pairing, and we can make one.
