The side stones here are big. Each emerald cut sits nearly as tall as the oval it flanks, held at all four corners by visible claws, and the band beneath them is heavier than we use on a standard three stone to carry the extra weight.

The result is a row of three substantial stones rather than a centre stone with decoration. Across the finger the ring covers noticeably more width than a solitaire of the same carat weight.

Wearing and stacking

The three stones sit in a low line and the ring is wide across the finger. A straight wedding band meets it cleanly, though the width means the pair will occupy most of the finger.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Large step cut stones must be matched as a pair for length, depth and facet alignment before they are set, since any mismatch is obvious when they sit either side of a symmetrical oval. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 10 to 14 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Step cut facets show marks readily. Clean a little more often than you would a brilliant cut ring. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
