Two round moissanites sit stacked against each side of the oval, filling the space beside the centre stone completely. Beyond them the band becomes a vine: strands of gold winding over one another with milgrain worked along their edges, and set into the curves are individual round accents held in their own bezels rather than prongs. Bezelling the vine stones instead of bead setting them gives each one a bright rim of metal, so they read as separate points of light along the branch rather than a continuous line of pave. Design and craftsmanship

Bezel setting small stones into a curving vine is slower than bead setting them, and that is the point. Each accent needs its own collet made and soldered into the branch at the right angle, then the rim pushed over the girdle by hand. Because the vine twists, no two collets sit on the same plane, so each has to be positioned individually rather than run along a line. The milgrain is added afterwards along the outer edges of the strands, worked around each bezel so the beading and the settings read as one continuous piece of metalwork. The paired accents at the head are shared prong set so they sit tight against each other and against the oval. Every ring is built and set by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. Its refractive index is higher, so it returns more coloured fire. Bezel set accents catch light mainly from above, so they flash on and off as your hand moves rather than sparkling constantly, which is what gives this ring its antique character. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, is the traditional metal for milgrain and bezel work and gives each accent a warm outline. Rose gold reads softer. White gold makes the bezels almost disappear so the stones look as though they are set directly into the vine. For daily wear 14K keeps milgrain beads and bezel rims sharp longer than softer 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The vine and its accent placement are laid out for your size, so please order the correct size rather than resizing later.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and every accent are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What is a bezel set accent?
A small stone held by a continuous rim of metal rather than by prongs or beads. It sits protected and flush, and it looks like a tiny bright circle set into the band.

Why bezel the accents rather than pave them?
Pave gives a continuous glitter; bezels give separate points of light with metal between them. On a vine that reads better, because each stone looks like a bud on the branch rather than part of a row.

How is this different from your other vine rings?
Our braided vine three stone uses pave along a plain strand. This one bezels each accent individually and edges the whole vine in milgrain, which makes it look considerably more antique.

Are the bezel set stones secure?
Very. A bezel surrounds the stone completely, so there are no prongs to bend or wear thin. It is the most durable small stone setting there is.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
No. The vine is deliberately uneven where a band would meet it. A contoured band shaped to the branch nests properly and we can make one to match.

Which centre size suits this setting?
All four. The paired accents are scaled to the centre stone, so the head stays balanced whether you choose 2 carat or 5 carat.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush along the vine and around each bezel. Bezel set stones trap less dirt than prong set ones, so this ring stays clean easily. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes fourteen to eighteen working days for this design, since each bezel is made and set individually, plus shipping time.
