The band on this ring is not pave. Each accent stone is set on its own, with a short length of polished metal between it and the next one, and the shapes alternate as they go: a marquise lying flat along the band, then a round, then a marquise again. The two nearest the centre stone are the largest marquises, set point outward, so they lead the eye into the oval.

Spacing the stones this way gives a very different effect from a continuous pave line. Instead of one bright band you get separate points of light with metal in between, which reads as lighter and more graphic, and shows off the shape of each accent rather than blending them together.

How it compares

Our spaced round accent ring uses one shape repeated. Alternating two shapes here adds rhythm to the band and makes the ring look less conventional without adding bulk. Against a full pave shank, this design uses fewer stones but each one is bigger and more visible.

Wearing and stacking

The accents sit low and flush, and the palm side is plain metal, so the ring is comfortable and can be resized. A plain slim wedding band pairs best, since a second stone set band can compete with the alternating pattern.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Setting stones individually with even spacing is slower than running a pave line, and every seat is cut by hand, which is why each ring is made after you order in the metal, carat and finger size you choose. Production usually takes 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working around each setting and along the metal spacers. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth. Remove the ring before swimming or heavy work.

No. They lie flat along the length of the band and each point is covered by a prong.
